Edinburgh City Youth Cafe

6VT Youth Cafe in partnership with the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the  Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh delivers a youth work support service in the Emergency Departments  at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children on Fridays & Saturdays. We also provide follow on community support.
This service is for any young person up to the age of 18 yrs presenting at the ED.
Youth workers are situated in the ED  on a Friday  & Saturday evening between 7pm - 1am to be on hand for any young people requiring support in the department. Follow up support is managed from 6VT Youth Café, at our base in the  Vennel Edinburgh.
Priority is given to those presenting with self injuries, over consumption of substances, and those harmed by others.

We will:

• Provide emotional and non clinical support to young people in need.

• Support young people in ED to positively and safely engage with the medical staff.

• Reduce self injury readmission to ED by connecting young people with community supports.
