Every day, young people come through our doors looking for somewhere safe, someone to talk to, practical help or simply a place where they feel welcome. Your donation helps us keep that door open.
6VT provides support, activities and a safe space for young people across Edinburgh and the Lothians. We work with young people facing a wide range of challenges, including poverty, homelessness, care experience, mental health concerns and the impact of crime.
We rely on donations alongside our grant funding to help us provide the things that young people need, including support that project funding does not always cover.

Every donation helps us meet the everyday costs of running our services and responding when young people need us.
Give every month
A regular donation gives 6VT a reliable source of income that helps us plan ahead and continue supporting young people throughout the year.
You could give £5, £10, £20 or whatever feels right for you.
A small monthly donation can help us meet the costs that keep our services running.
Give through your salary
Your employer may offer Payroll Giving, allowing you to donate to 6VT directly from your salary before Income Tax is deducted.
This means your donation can cost you less than the amount received by 6VT.
For example, if you donate £10 through Payroll Giving and you live in Scotland, the current tax relief means that a £10 donation could cost you between £5.20 and £8.10 from your take home pay, depending on your tax rate.
Ask your employer if they offer Payroll Giving and choose Edinburgh City Youth Cafe as your nominated charity.

What can your donation help with?
Donations give us flexibility to respond to the needs of young people and help cover costs that are not always met through project funding.
Your support can help with things such as:
• Food and refreshments during our sessions
• Activities and trips for young people
• Travel costs so young people can access support
• Practical help when someone is struggling
• Resources and equipment
• The everyday costs of keeping our building open and welcoming
• Additional support when a young person needs more time with a worker
• Creating opportunities for young people to learn new skills and try new things
Your donation can go further with Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can usually add Gift Aid to your donation at no extra cost to you.
For every £1 you donate, 6VT can claim an additional 25p from HMRC.

Some employers will match money raised by their staff, meaning your fundraising could go twice as far.
