Time to Talk
6VT Hospital Youth Work Team
Supporting Young People’s Mental Health in Edinburgh
Time to Talk is a city-wide mental wellbeing and youth work service for young people aged 12 to 25.

6VT & Time to Talk
6VT Hopspital Youth Work Team provides emotional and non-clinical support to help young people engage safely with medical staff in the Emergency Departments at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

The service is Scotland’s only Emergency Department based youth work service. Our team are qualified in social work or youth work and have experience in child protection, trauma-informed practice, conflict management, suicide prevention, and mental health.
We work with young people aged 10 to 18, or up to 25 for care-experienced young people, focusing on those presenting with:
-
Mental health issues
-
Overconsumption of substances
-
Harm caused by others
-
Challenging behaviour

Time to Talk can provide follow-up support in the community by referring young people to one of our appropriate partner organisations.
